Our Mission

Providing immediate and practical support to parents and caregivers

Our Vision

What We Do

Parent Aid Waitakere serves families / carers of children aged 0-13years old from all ethnicities and various backgrounds including those who are often new to New Zealand and its cultures and feel vulnerable and isolated within the community.

Our mission is to provide a free, in-home childcare and helping service for parents and caregivers in times of illness, accidents, stress or other emergency. We service clients in West Auckland to Kumeu, New Lynn, Waterview, Grey Lynn, Herne Bay, Ponsonby, Westmere and more recently to suburbs in North Shore.

We get referrals for emergency outreach service in homes for practical care and these come from WDHB, ADHB, medical centres, NZ Police and community agencies around West, Central Auckland and North Shore.

Parent Aid Waitakere provides emergency support as an early intervention for families with young children (able and special needs), to ensure that the young are safe and free from harm and neglect when the adults in the family are stressed and recovering from illnesses or accidents. We provide practical support as well as companionship and practical advice for those mum and dads at home without family or friend support. By offering a temporary respite access to parents and caregivers we alleviate the stress and channel that into positive and empowered parenting.

Funded Services

We can assist with subsidy hours funded by  Ministry of Health (Carer Support), Work and Income (Home Help) and ACC. We also work with families with multiple births or twins if they are eligible for Home Help subsidies. Please call us for more information.

Donations help us to support our families in the community.
